Tips for Sustainable Corporate Events

Earth Day was first celebrated over 50 years ago. Since then, sustainability has grown from being a niche idea to a recognized necessity in all walks of life and for all types of businesses. Corporate events are no exception! Thankfully, technology and innovation offer many ways to deliver a polished, superior AV experience while keeping the carbon impact low.

Sustainable Corporate Events Are Good Business

According to the latest American Express Global Meetings and Events Forecast, four in five (80%) event professionals say their organization takes sustainability into account when planning meetings and events. When considering environmentally friendly events, it’s important for event planners to understand that AV design and implementation offers many options that can meet those needs.

Events That Are Virtually Sustainable

A virtual or hybrid event is an excellent way to reduce carbon output. Streaming experiences can reduce total climate pollution from events by 60-98%. (Eventcellany, 2020). Hybrid meetings let you stream the experience to several locations simultaneously, reducing or eliminating the need for air travel and hotel stays. At AVD, we have helped produce many successful hybrid meetings that reach viewers at home or connect with other meeting locations across the globe. We can seamlessly share speakers, breakout sessions, and presentations in real time. Our imaginative use of design and technology means the hybrid meeting can be visually enthralling and emotionally compelling, captivating all viewers.

Environmentally Friendly AV Equipment

When you’re trying to save energy, selecting the right AV components matters.

“Choosing quality over quantity in your equipment will lower your overall energy consumption,” advises Steve Levin, AVD’s Director of Business Development. “Using a knowledgeable AV production and design team can help bring your vision to life with sustainability in mind. At AVD, we have a 30,000-square-foot warehouse with all of the latest and most energy-efficient equipment that can ensure a captivating meeting or event with a streamlined carbon footprint.”

More Sustainable AV Ideas

  • LED is the top choice amongst most designers because it delivers tremendous flexibility in creating striking design, while using significantly less energy than traditional light.
  • Equipment with ENERGY STAR certification can be up to 70% more efficient than regular equipment. Certification means the equipment has met strict guidelines; those components can also feature decreased watt consumption and sleep mode as well.
  • Amplifiers that are Class-D instead of Class-AB produce less heat. An amplifier with Power Factor Correction (PFC) also gives off less heat while producing clean, powerful sound. The PFC corrects the incoming AC power by synchronizing the AC voltage to the line current, reducing the need for a cooling system.
  • Laser projectors offer longer life, almost instant on/off capability, higher brightness, and less maintenance.
  • Automation saves power. It can be built into the design of the overall event so that equipment powers down when not in use.

Digital Signage

Utilizing digital signage over traditional banners and signs is a great choice for a sustainable corporate event. The signs will save trees and water; even better, they provide remote access. You can control and change the sign from your computer anywhere. Smart signage uses a built-in player that consumes less electricity. Energy-efficient screens and remote access will allow you to adjust the brightness to avoid waste.
